Key Cobresal-Colo Colo match rescheduled by Chañaral decision

The Cobresal vs. Colo Colo match, for matchday 29 of the Primera League, was rescheduled to Friday at 18:30 by decision of the Chañaral Presidential Delegation. Originally set for 20:00, the change was ratified by the ANFP. Both teams are tied at 44 points for seventh place, crucial for qualifying to the 2026 Copa Sudamericana.

The clash between Cobresal and Colo Colo, set at El Salvador Stadium, underwent a schedule change due to a ruling from the Chañaral Presidential Delegation. The ANFP ratified the adjustment, moving the match from 20:00 to 18:30 on Friday.

Colo Colo arrives in strong form after a 4-1 victory over Unión La Calera in the previous matchday. With 44 points, they are level with Cobresal in the standings, battling for the final spot in the 2026 Copa Sudamericana. Goal difference favors the whites with +14 compared to the miners' +2, giving them an edge in a points tie.

A Colo Colo win would position them solidly ahead of their final match against Audax Italiano. A draw would keep their options open, while a loss would complicate their hopes one match from the end. Coach Fernando Ortiz stressed the match's importance: “On Friday we have a final against a direct rival for qualification. I would commit a sin if my mind thought beyond Cobresal”.

“I don't project to the future. There's the tranquility that we're on track for the objective, but we haven't achieved anything yet. The real final is Friday against Cobresal, on a very tough pitch”, Ortiz added after the La Calera win.

The match looms as decisive in the Chilean league's closing stages, with both teams needing points to secure continental qualification.
