On the Tuesday episode of Barstool Sports' 'Hoopin' N Hollerin'' podcast, hosts Patrick Beverley and Jason Williams discussed Klay Thompson's early-season performance with the Dallas Mavericks. Thompson, in his second year with the team after signing a three-year, $50 million contract with Dallas before the 2024-25 season, has been averaging a career-low 8.5 points per game on 32% field goal shooting and 28.9% from three-point range through 11 games.
Beverley suggested Thompson's routine was disrupted, referencing Instagram posts of the couple and implying added distractions. Williams escalated with a vulgar analogy, stating, “I’m from West Virginia, man. I’ve been taught a lot by some old folks, old white folks. They say p—y’s powerful... it only takes one ... to drag a battleship across a desert, that’s how powerful it is. Klay Thompson — I ain’t saying that’s what it is, but that might be what it is. That ain’t taking nothing away from Megan Thee Stallion. She might be a great girl, great for him. But I don’t know if she’s great for the shot.”
A clip of the discussion, posted on the podcast's Instagram with a photo of Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion, prompted Thompson's reply in the comments: “Referring to my GF as a ‘p—’ is so disgusting and disturbing. Especially from someone who played in the NBA. How would yall feel if I referred to your wives in such a way? @patbev21 Do better fellas. Very disappointing.”
The Mavericks, holding a 3-9 record, recently moved the 35-year-old Thompson to the bench after starting the first seven games. In a 123-114 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, he scored 19 points on 6-of-17 shooting, including 6-of-16 from three, with three rebounds and one assist in 31 minutes. Thompson, a four-time NBA champion from his time with the Golden State Warriors, commented positively on the role change: “I’m enjoying it, I get to see the game develop so I can see where to pick my spots... My goal this year is to be the most consistent presence in the lineup.”
Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion went public with their relationship in July 2025, sharing moments like workouts and dates on social media. She has attended multiple Mavericks games, and the couple hinted at moving in together last month. Megan has not publicly addressed the podcast comments.
