Team Bondi writers considered casting Jon Hamm as protagonist Cole Phelps in L.A. Noire before selecting his Mad Men co-star Aaron Staton for the role.
Daniel McMahon, a writer on the 2011 crime thriller, said in a recent interview that Hamm was proposed early in development.
McMahon noted that Hamm would have been a strong choice but ultimately proved too expensive. He added that Staton better captured the character's fragility.
The developers also discussed Hamm for the role of Jack Kelso instead. No sequel plans have been confirmed despite recent comments from Take-Two executives.
