Following the January trailer debuted in Nintendo Direct—which showcased Yoshi, Birdo, Rosalina (voiced by Brie Larson), Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie), and deep cuts like Mouser and Clawgrip—a new leak hints at further plot details.
IGN spotted a description on UK chain Everyman's site: “After defeating Bowser and saving Brooklyn, Mario faces Wario and Bowser Jr.’s evil alliance. Now, alongside his friends and Yoshi, he must stop their plans for world domination.” This positions greedy anti-hero Wario—absent from official materials—as a major villain in his first big animated Mario film role.
The leak precedes formal announcements expected near the April 1, 2026 U.S. debut (Japan April 24). Chris Pratt has teased unannounced characters, possibly nodding to Wario. The story continues from the 2023 film's events.
