Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested Wednesday night in Florida after turning himself in to authorities. He faces eight felony charges, including four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, that carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
The charges stem from a February 4 incident at an Airbnb in Largo, Florida, that Arnold and friends had rented. After a burglary at the property, Arnold and associates allegedly lured three men to an apartment, where two were pistol-whipped and held at gunpoint. Arnold viewed the events via livestream but was not present, according to Tampa police.
Arnold, the No. 24 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, made his first court appearance Thursday and is being held without bond. A pretrial detention hearing is set for Monday. Police say Arnold was the primary conspirator based on a group chat directing the others.
Arnold's attorneys released a statement denying involvement. "Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence," the statement said. The Lions said they are aware of the situation but will not comment further due to the ongoing legal process.
