Lionsgate debuted a new featurette on July 4 introducing Joseph Zada as young Haymitch Abernathy in the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
The promo, titled Meet Haymitch, marks the character's birthday and Reaping Day in the story. It features dialogue between Haymitch and his girlfriend Lenore Dove Baird, played by Whitney Peak.
The film is scheduled for release in theaters on November 20. It follows Haymitch 24 years before the events of the original Hunger Games during the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell.
The prequel is written by Billy Ray and based on the book by Suzanne Collins. Director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson are involved, along with a cast that includes Elle Fanning, McKenna Grace, Ben Wang, Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Billy Porter, Maya Hawke, Kieran Culkin, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Lili Taylor and Ralph Fiennes.
Woody Harrelson originated the role of Haymitch in earlier films.
