Long-awaited bronze for Stupans in 50m freestyle

In the last event with Swedish participation at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo, swimmer Rudolfs Stupans claimed bronze in the 50-meter freestyle. This long-awaited medal follows a major training investment focused on technique improvements. Ukraine's Illia Sultanov won gold with a new world record of 23.00 seconds.

Rudolfs Stupans delivered another medal for Sweden at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo by securing bronze in the 50-meter freestyle in the final event with Swedish participation. Stupans was motivated and reached third place after intensive work on his technique ahead of the games.

Gold went to Ukraine's Illia Sultanov, who set a new world record with a time of 23:00. Silver was taken by American Mathew Klotz. The medals were presented by renowned swimmer Alexandra Polivanchuk.

This bronze is a long-awaited achievement for Stupans, who made a significant investment in training for the Deaflympics. It caps off Sweden's participation with yet another success. Earlier, Otto Kingstedt won gold in the marathon, setting a new Deaflympics record and Swedish record at 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 10 seconds. Nils Forsberg Rundström claimed silver in orienteering long distance.
