STARDOM wrestler Maika defeated Skye Blue at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door Buy-In on June 28 to claim the last spot in the Survival of the Fittest match for the vacant AEW TBS Championship. The six-woman match is scheduled for the July 1 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Maika secured the victory with a brainbuster on the apron followed by a hammerlock Michinoku Driver. Both competitors traded strikes and high-impact moves throughout the contest, with Maika overcoming Skye Blue's offensive flurry that included a Tornado DDT and Liger Bomb.
The win advances Maika into the Survival of the Fittest alongside Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Persephone, Queen Aminata and Harley Cameron. The winner of the July 1 match in San Diego, California, will be crowned the new AEW TBS Champion.
The title was vacated in May after Willow Nightingale suffered an injury. The match serves as the final opportunity to fill the six-woman field ahead of the July 1 broadcast.
