The negotiation table agreed to extend deadlines for submitting amendments to the reconstruction bill after a meeting on Friday.
On Friday, July 3, the second meeting took place between Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz and senators from the ruling party and the opposition. The body, set up the previous Wednesday at the request of Senate President Paulina Núñez, aims for greater consensus on processing the bill.
Núñez reported that the original deadline, set for midday on Monday, July 6, was extended. Amendments on Environment will have until 8 p.m. on July 6, those on Labor until midday on July 8, and those on Finance could extend until July 10.
Senator Juan Luis Castro highlighted concerns over fiscal debt of 4.8 billion dollars and the need to contain spending. Núñez noted progress on tax issues and the possibility of an agreement protocol.
