Meteorologist Jaime Leyton robbed at home in Puente Alto

Mega meteorologist Jaime Leyton was robbed at his Puente Alto home on Thursday. The thieves entered while the house was empty and took jewelry and other items. PDI personnel are investigating the incident.

The robbery took place on Thursday at Jaime Leyton's home in Puente Alto commune, south of Santiago. According to the meteorologist himself, the residence was unoccupied at the time. “The house was alone, my son was in the car and I was with my wife at the channel,” Leyton explained.

Leyton recounted that neighbors had previously warned about a suspicious truck in the area. “For a while, we had been informed through neighborhood chats about a truck that was driving around, assaulting people, taking advantage of opportunities,” he detailed. The thieves checked that no cars were present, called at the door—which was recorded—and then forced the gate and main door. A neighbor alerted them to unusual noises.

Upon arriving at the scene with Carabineros, Leyton found the house ransacked. “The whole house was turned upside down, and they obviously rummaged through everything where one usually keeps valuables, watches, cell phones, etc., the bedroom drawers,” he described. Among the stolen items are his wife's jewelry, minor valuables, and a smart TV, though fortunately the computer was not taken.

Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) personnel are working at the site to gather evidence and clarify the crime, amid growing concerns about security in the area.
