Vice President Victoria Villarruel did not receive an official invitation to the May 25 Tedeum at the Metropolitan Cathedral. The Casa Rosada decision deepens the rift with President Javier Milei. Sources close to Villarruel confirmed the exclusion was deliberate.
Presidency General Secretary Karina Milei handled the invitations through the Ceremonial area. Sources from Villarruel's circle stated that the invitation never arrived and that her presence at Sunday's religious ceremony is not expected.
The May 25 Tedeum usually brings together the president and vice president along with officials and authorities. Villarruel's absence breaks with this tradition and reflects the deterioration of her relationship with Milei, who no longer share institutional events.
Some Casa Rosada officials mentioned that the Archbishopric could invite her, but the Church clarified that invitations correspond to the Executive Branch. Villarruel attended the event last year despite existing tensions.
