Egyptian ministers of local development and industry met with the head of the Upper Egypt Development Authority to discuss support for industrial and development projects in the region.
The meeting was attended by the chairperson of the Industrial Development Authority and other officials. They reviewed factories and industrial complexes being developed across Upper Egypt governorates, including export-oriented food-processing projects such as date production, dairy processing, onion dehydration and pomegranate concentrate manufacturing in partnership with private investors.
Minister Manal Awad reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting the authority and instructed departments to coordinate with relevant entities to remove obstacles facing the projects. Discussions also covered preparations for the Productive Village initiative and small handicraft complexes to create jobs for women.
Chairperson Amr Abdel Moneim announced the Upper Egypt Bazaar scheduled for August under the prime minister's patronage. Minister Khaled Hashem stressed the government's priority on developing Upper Egypt through integrated industrial support and skills development.
