Indonesia defeated Cambodia 5-1 at Stadion Pakansari in Bogor on 27 July 2026. Mitchell Baker scored a hattrick on his debut.
Mitchell Baker scored three goals in the 6th, 15th and 56th minutes to help Indonesia defeat Cambodia 5-1 in the opening Group A match of the 2026 AFF Cup. The other goals came from Sandy Walsh and Jens Raven, while Cambodia scored once through an own goal by Nadeo Argawinata.
The 19-year-old Baker, who stands 196-197 cm tall, was naturalised only weeks earlier. He said the result exceeded his expectations and dedicated his performance to his family.
Coach John Herdman praised the team's display and thanked PSSI chairman Erick Thohir for Baker's naturalisation. Erick Thohir called Baker a potential addition to the attack but urged the public not to judge him too quickly.
Indonesia are scheduled to face Timor Leste on 31 July 2026.
