Several private lawyers have joined the House prosecution team in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
The new members include former Supreme Court spokesman Theodore Te, along with Reynaldo Robles, Mae Divinagracia and Arnold Labay. Rep. Leila de Lima of the Mamamayang Liberal party-list formally introduced them to the team.
Robles said they volunteered because they could not simply ignore unacceptable developments in the country. Benjamin Tolosa Jr. has also been designated as the team’s legal spokesman and private prosecutor.
The prosecution has also stated that the impeachment court should not dismiss the case without a full trial, while the defense has agreed to open the BIR box containing tax records but only in a confidential session.
