The Moderates' youth wing Muf visited a high school in Skåne on Tuesday and handed out empty snus cans to recruit members among students under 18.
Social studies teacher Henrik at Nils Fredriksson gymnasium reacted to the method. Students received empty cans featuring an image of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s calf and the text “X-tra strong”, along with a t-shirt and an energy drink. He viewed it as unethical to encourage minors to use nicotine.
Muf Skåne district chair Isac Rubin defended the approach. Snus cans have been used as merchandise since 2019 and they are empty of content. The organization stated that it asked the principal for permission and received approval to stand outside the school.
Principal Alexander Magnusson confirmed that Muf was turned away from the school grounds. He believes more suitable products should be distributed and noted that teachers have reacted negatively to the cans.
