Hikaru Nakamura, Dmitry Andreikin and Aravindh Chithambaram each claimed victory in the three 3+0 Thursday chess tournaments held on June 11. All three winners prevailed on tiebreaks after close finishes.
Nakamura secured his fifth title in the first event. He finished with nine points after a queen sacrifice in the final round, overtaking three players who had led on 8.5 points.
Andreikin went undefeated in the second tournament to win his first 3+0 Thursday title. The grandmaster reached nine points out of 11 and finished ahead of IM Renato Terry on tiebreaks.
Aravindh took the third event with eight points. He defeated three of the other four players who finished level on points, earning the best tiebreaks among the group.
Each tournament was an 11-round Swiss with a 3+0 time control. The combined prize fund was $3,000.
