Navy official named acting PSC chief

President Marcos has appointed Commodore Andro Val Abayon as the new acting head of the Presidential Security Command (PSC). Presidential Communications Secretary Dave Gomez confirmed the appointment yesterday. Abayon replaces Maj. Gen. Peter Burgonio, who has been reassigned to the Army’s 8th Infantry Division.

According to a report from Philstar.com, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named Commodore Andro Val Abayon as the acting head of the Presidential Security Command (PSC). Presidential Communications Secretary Dave Gomez confirmed the appointment on November 21, 2025.

Prior to this role, Abayon served as commander of the Naval Special Operations Command within the Philippine Navy. He replaces former PSC head Maj. Gen. Peter Burgonio, who has been reassigned as acting division commander of the Army’s 8th Infantry Division, Gomez stated.

The PSC, previously known as the Presidential Security Group, is responsible for providing security to the President, the First Family, and visiting heads of state. It plays a critical role in safeguarding the nation's highest officials and international dignitaries.
