Nicolas Colsaerts joins LIV Golf broadcast team for 2026

Former Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts has signed on as lead commentator for LIV Golf's 2026 season, marking a surprising shift for the retired Belgian golfer. The move follows his recent retirement from professional play and comes after he expressed reservations about the league in the past. Colsaerts will join commentators David Feherty and Arlo White as the season kicks off in Riyadh.

Nicolas Colsaerts, celebrated for his standout performance in the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah, has transitioned to a new role in golf broadcasting with LIV Golf. The 2012 European team member, who recently retired after over 500 starts on the DP World Tour at the Mauritius Open, will serve as the lead commentator for the league's 2026 season. This appointment was first reported by Sports Business Journal's Josh Carpenter and confirmed by DP World Tour winner Eddie Pepperell on the Chipping Forecast podcast.

Pepperell noted the unexpected nature of the decision, stating, “I heard that Nicolas Colsaerts has gone to LIV as the lead commentator. I think Dom Boulet has left and Nico is becoming commentator.” He added, “Can I just say, I’ve spoken to Nicolas plenty of times about LIV and he wasn’t its biggest fan so that’s a huge turn of events.”

Colsaerts earned fame in 2012 by making eight birdies and an eagle in a Friday fourballs match, helping defeat Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker. This contributed to the European team's dramatic comeback, known as the Miracle of Medinah. Earlier members of that squad, including Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, and Martin Kaymer, had joined LIV Golf as players four years ago.

The Belgian's broadcasting career gained traction with insightful commentary for Sky Sports on DP World Tour events, where he was expected to continue into 2026. However, following Henni Zuel's move to LIV last summer, Colsaerts has now taken a similar path. LIV Golf has yet to comment officially on the hire.

Last year, Colsaerts voiced disappointment over not being selected as a vice-captain for the Ryder Cup victory at Bethpage Black, telling the Sky Sports Golf podcast, “Yeah, very disappointed, because it’s a competition that I live for... Extremely disappointed, yes, but the captain is in charge.” The LIV Golf season begins February 4 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
