1. FC Nürnberg defeated promoted side FC Schalke 04 3-0 in their final home game of the season. The match at the sold-out Max-Morlock-Stadion was marked by a big fan party.
The goals for the Club came from an own goal by Ron Schallenberg in the 20th minute, Henri Koudossou in first-half stoppage time and Mohamed Zoma in the 72nd minute. Coach Miroslav Klose saw an energetic performance from his team in front of 50,000 spectators.
Fans from both sides presented a joint choreography and repeatedly sang songs of friendship. Schalke supporters chanted “Never again 2. Liga” and “S04 is back” despite the defeat.
Schalke coach Miron Muslic recorded only a few attacking moves from his side. The game marked the end of a season in which Nürnberg performed strongly at home.
