Singer Oliver Tree died in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro on June 14. The 32-year-old was one of six people killed when two helicopters collided mid-air.
Tree, born Oliver Tree Nickell, had performed a show in Sao Paulo before the trip. His next concert was scheduled for July in Europe.
He discussed his will plans in an April interview on The Zach Sang Show. “My will is set up so when I pass, my family, nobody is going to get a penny,” he said. Tree intended to create a foundation called Dr. Oliver Tree’s Art Grants For Baby Geniuses to support artists.
Tributes came from former partner Melanie Martinez and others including Kid Cudi and Bebe Rexha. Martinez called him “a true artist in every way” and remembered his “soft heart” and “contagious” laugh.
The crash also claimed the lives of DJ Lucas Brito Chaves, YouTuber Gaspi and director Lucas Vignale.
