Orico launches PTM dock lineup with sliding M.2 trays

Orico has introduced its PTM dock series, featuring innovative sliding trays for M.2 drives and flexible port configurations. This compact setup allows the device to function similarly to a network-attached storage system. However, the lineup comes in two versions that do not fully integrate the strongest elements from each.

The PTM dock lineup from Orico represents a fresh approach to storage solutions, emphasizing portability and versatility. At the core of the design are sliding trays that accommodate M.2 drives, enabling easy access and installation without complex disassembly. These trays contribute to the overall compact form factor, making the device suitable for both professional and personal use.

Orico has provided varied port layouts across the series, allowing users to select configurations that match their connectivity needs, such as USB, Ethernet, or HDMI options. This adaptability turns the PTM into a pseudo-NAS device, capable of handling file sharing and backup tasks in a small footprint.

Available in two distinct versions, the PTM lineup offers choices for different priorities— one might prioritize speed with advanced ports, while the other focuses on simplicity and cost. Observers note a missed opportunity, as combining the best attributes from both could have resulted in a more comprehensive product. The launch, dated December 13, 2025, underscores Orico's ongoing efforts to innovate in the external storage market, where demand for multifunctional devices continues to grow.

While specific pricing and availability details remain pending, the PTM series positions Orico competitively against established players in docking and NAS solutions. Users interested in expanding their storage capabilities without bulky hardware will find this lineup appealing for its blend of convenience and functionality.
