Over a million people attended the Paris Parade 2025, South America's largest Christmas parade, which brought together more than 1,000 artists and 13 giant balloons in downtown Santiago. The 14th edition, organized by Paris to mark its 125th anniversary, featured the longest route in its history under the theme “For a better world: The voice of hope”. The event proceeded without issues and highlighted sustainable practices.
The Paris Parade 2025 took place on Sunday, November 23, in Santiago, turning Providencia and Alameda avenues into a family celebration space. The parade started near Metro Salvador and ended in front of La Moneda, covering the longest route to date. Highlights included 13 giant balloons inspired by popular characters such as Harry Potter, Sonic, Hello Kitty, Kuromi, Ralf, Marshall from Paw Patrol, Bugs Bunny, Chavo del Ocho, Bluey, Batman, Peppa Pig, and The Powerpuff Girls.
Over 1,000 artists took part, featuring urban and folk dance troupes, brass bands, acrobats, and skaters. The finale featured live music from the Coro Gospel Chile and the appearance of Santa Claus. Fernanda Kluever, Paris's Client and Sustainability Manager, stated: “it has been a historic celebration that reflects our commitment to bringing families together and igniting the voice of hope for a better world”. Juan Luis Taverne, Paris's General Manager, noted that the event unfolded “without mishaps” due to careful planning.
On sustainability, the edition measured its carbon footprint, used upcycling for costumes and scenery, and had 14 clean points for waste management, minimizing environmental impact.
The parade caused traffic closures from midnight on Saturday, November 22, until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, affecting the Alameda-Providencia axis between Avenida España and Manuel Montt, and between Manuel Montt and Salvador. Alternative routes included Avenida Blanco Encalada, Matta, Bellavista, Andrés Bello, Cardenal Caro, and Balmaceda. Reopening was scheduled for 3:30 p.m., with Lord Cochrane closed until 6:00 p.m. for dismantling.
