Peak return flow expected today, Indonesian traffic police prepare national one-way

Head of Korlantas Polri Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho predicts the peak of the second wave Idul Fitri return flow on Saturday (March 28, 2026). They are preparing traffic engineering options up to a national one-way scheme to manage the surge of vehicles heading to Jakarta on the Trans Java Toll. Early Saturday traffic remains controlled.

At the Karawang Barat Toll Gate office in West Java on Friday night (March 27, 2026), Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho stated that the peak return flow is expected today. "It is estimated tomorrow (today). Because tonight's traffic (Friday, March 27, 2026) is also not too high," he said.

Korlantas Polri has implemented a series of traffic management measures since Friday morning, per Kapolri's instructions, under the enhanced routine activity pattern (KRYD). Precision local one-way stage one was applied from KM 132 to KM 70, followed by stage two from KM 263 to KM 70 to handle flow from the east to Jakarta.

"The first is the precision local one-way stage one from 132, then we extended the second to 263," Agus added. They are monitoring traffic counts and vehicle volume ratios to decide on extending one-way stage three or implementing a national one-way from KM 414 to KM 70.

Additionally, Korlantas urged logistics operators of three-axle vehicles to delay trips to prioritize returning travelers. Friday's traffic was observed as smooth, with focus on enforcing operational violations for goods transport.
