Polda Metro Jaya takes over case of skeletons found in Kwitang

Polda Metro Jaya has taken over the handling of the case involving the discovery of two burned human skeletons in the ACC Kwitang building, Central Jakarta. The find occurred on October 30, 2024, during a renovation inspection. DNA test results are still pending.

The discovery of two human skeletons in a severely burned and unrecognizable condition was reported on Thursday (October 30) at the Administration Office on the 2nd floor of the ACC Kwitang building, Senen, Central Jakarta. The report came from a building technical team inspecting the structure for renovation, as the building had previously burned down completely.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro, stated on Friday (October 31) that his team immediately went to the crime scene (TKP) to process it after receiving the report. "We received the report on Thursday (October 30) from the building's technical team who were checking the construction for renovation because the building's condition was already completely burned," he said in Jakarta.

Both skeletons are now at RS Polri Kramat Jati for further forensic examination, including DNA sampling. Initially handled by Central Jakarta Metro Police, the case has been transferred to the Polda Metro Jaya's Criminal Investigation Directorate.

Polda Metro Jaya's Public Relations Head, Commissioner Police Budi Hermanto, confirmed the takeover on Tuesday. "Yes, it's true, handled by Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya," he said. However, he could not yet explain the DNA results. "The results are not out yet, possibly tomorrow at the earliest, and we will convey them after the results are out," he added.

The investigation continues to uncover the victims' identities and the cause of the incident.
