The Puy du Fou theme park in Toledo has dismissed three animal department managers after detecting isolated irregularities in carcass management between 2021 and July 2025.
The park has acknowledged in a statement the existence of animal burials such as geese, ducks, lambs and rabbits inside the premises. The company states these practices were carried out by some managers outside established protocols and has strongly condemned the joking tone in internal WhatsApp messages.
Puy du Fou has announced measures including the creation of an Animal Welfare Committee and an investment of up to 750,000 euros to improve facilities. The internal investigation found no evidence of irregularities after July 2025.
Ecologistas en Acción has announced a criminal complaint and demands the precautionary closure of the park as well as the dismissal of Castilla-La Mancha's Development Minister Nacho Hernando. The park employs 1,300 people and received 1.7 million visitors last year.
