Persistent rain forced the postponement of the first-round match between Alex de Minaur and Stefanos Tsitsipas at the DC Open. The contest, originally set for Tuesday evening, was moved to Wednesday.
The Australian’s title defense at the Washington tournament faced another delay due to weather. Organizers shifted the highly anticipated clash after rain disrupted Tuesday’s schedule on Stadium Court.
Journalist Ben Rothenberg reported on social media that the match was canceled for the day, with a revised order of play expected for Wednesday. De Minaur and Tsitsipas were rescheduled to play second on Stadium Court, following the match between Alexandra Eala and Leylah Fernandez.
A few doubles matches were also postponed to Wednesday. The change means the winner of the encounter will face a tighter schedule if they advance further in the event.
