Presidential hopeful Renan Santos told ambassadors in Brasília on Thursday (25) that Brazil should arrest former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
Santos, coordinator of the Movimento Brasil Livre and president of the Missão party, attended the “Debating Brazil” lunch at Oscar Restaurante in the Brasília Palace Hotel. He addressed representatives from about 60 countries and answered questions in English.
The candidate said that, with Brazil as the world’s fifth-largest economy, the country should project power in South America and arrest Maduro instead of the United States. Maduro was captured in Caracas by US forces on January 3.
Santos also criticized President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s foreign policy and described Bolsonarism as a movement of voters over 60. He stated that Lula and Jair Bolsonaro are alike in corruption cases.
