Ruto announces launch of national ambulance dispatch centre by July

President William Ruto has announced that Kenya will launch its first national ambulance dispatch centre by the end of July 2026.

President Ruto made the announcement during the 95th St. John Ambulance annual parade and inspection on June 21 at State House. The centre will be the second of its kind in Africa and will integrate with the country's digital health infrastructure under the Digital Health Agency.

Emergency ambulance services will be provided free of charge to all Kenyans. The centre is expected to coordinate approximately 100,000 emergency evacuations annually.

Ruto also announced a Ksh500 million package for a new St John Ambulance headquarters along with 15 new ambulances. This forms part of government efforts to improve emergency health services.
