Ruto unveils 2027 strategies for UDA leaders

President William Ruto has begun planning for the 2027 general elections by convening major meetings with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders. In a Tuesday night meeting, he received reports on grassroots elections and ordered re-elections. This move aims to build strong political networks at the grassroots level.

President William Ruto received reports from the National Elections Board (NEB) and the Elections and Nominations Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC) regarding the recently completed grassroots elections. In that Tuesday night meeting, Ruto ordered re-elections following complaints from elected leaders that they were not adequately involved.

Ruto has called for a special National Governing Council (NGC) meeting on Monday, January 26, to be attended by UDA governors, deputy governors, senators, National Assembly MPs, women representatives, East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) members, and ward representatives in county assemblies. Another meeting with UDA aspirants for the 2027 elections is scheduled for February 4. Both meetings will take place at State House in Nairobi.

Additionally, Ruto has directed re-elections at the grassroots level in several polling stations across 42 counties to prevent major divisions within the party. The party plans to elect 20 officials per polling station, aiming for a total of 600,000 grassroots officials nationwide. This will strengthen solid political networks for Ruto's re-election campaign.
