Salem March had fewer participants but revives in 2025

Reactions to the Salem March are marked by relief that the Nazis were not more numerous, but it is too early to relax. The manifestation's revival in 2025 is no coincidence given how its ideas have reached the highest political levels, writes DN's Gabriel Zetterström, who was present.

The Salem March, a manifestation linked to Nazi groups, recently took place with fewer participants than in previous instances. According to Gabriel Zetterström, a culture journalist at Dagens Nyheter who covered the event on site, reactions are characterized by some relief over the reduced number of Nazis. Despite this, he warns that it is too early to feel secure.

The revival of the march is scheduled for 2025 again, and Zetterström stresses that this is no coincidence. He points out that the ideas behind the manifestation have infiltrated the highest political levels in Sweden. The event in Salem highlights the ongoing presence of extremist movements, even if the attendance was lower this time.

Zetterström emphasizes the importance of not underestimating the development, as political currents can amplify such manifestations.
