Tre Kronor lost the world championship quarterfinal 1–3 to Switzerland in Zürich. Head coach Sam Hallam thereby ends his four-year tenure.
Sweden took the lead through Linus Karlsson but Switzerland equalized and pulled ahead with two goals in the second period. Captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Oskar Sundqvist were injured and missed the rest of the match.
Hallam summed up his time as head coach. “Result-wise we should have achieved more,” he told SVT Sport. He secured two world championship bronzes but Sweden reached no final.
Rikard Grönborg returns as Swedish head coach. Switzerland faces Norway in the semifinal.
