Prospect of the Week Highlights
Igor Chernyshov, playing for the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL, was named AHL Rookie of the Month for November and Sharks Prospect of the Week on November 24. He leads the Barracuda with 10 goals and 19 points in 20 games. Among AHL rookies, Chernyshov ranks tied for third in goals, tied for fourth in points, and tied for eighth in assists this season.
Quentin Musty, also with the Barracuda, received Sharks Prospect of the Week honors on December 4. He recorded his second multi-goal game of the season in a 4-3 victory at Colorado. Musty has multi-point efforts in three of his past six games, accumulating 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in his last 10 games. He ranks tied for fourth in assists (11) and sixth in points (18) among AHL skaters this year.
Barracuda Team Performance
The San Jose Barracuda hold second place in the AHL Pacific Division with an 8-1-0-1 record over their past 10 games. They rank tied for 10th in the league for goals for (67), including tied for fourth in the Western Conference. The team begins a three-game homestand against Tucson on December 5-6 and San Diego on December 10.
Standout Individual Performances
Goaltender Gabriel Carriere posted his first shutout of the season, stopping 22 shots in a 3-0 win against the Calgary Wranglers on November 26—his third career AHL shutout. He has contributed to wins in four of his past six appearances.
Filip Bystedt is on a career-long seven-game point streak since November 15, with three goals and six assists, and points in 10 of his last 12 games. He needs seven more assists to match his career-high of 19 at the AHL level.
Defenseman Luca Cagnoni ranks tied for fifth in goals (4) and points (15), and tied for eighth in assists (11) among AHL blueliners. He reached 10 assists with a multi-assist game on November 22 in a 4-3 win against Abbotsford, the first Barracuda defenseman to do so this season.
Forward Cam Lund became the fifth Barracuda forward to reach double-digit points, tallying one goal and five assists in his past 10 games, including points in consecutive games from November 6-15.
Michael Misa was loaned to the Barracuda from the Sharks on December 3 for a conditioning assignment.
Other North American Prospects
In the ECHL, Noah Beck with Wichita has nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in his past eight games, ranking tied for first in goals (5), tied for second in points (16), and tied for fourth in assists among ECHL defensemen.
Donavan Houle scored three goals in his past four games with Wichita, including his first multi-goal game on November 22 in a 4-3 shootout win at Toledo.
Lucas Vanroboys was recalled to the Barracuda on November 29 after eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) in his last seven ECHL games with Wichita.
In college hockey, Eric Pohlkamp of Denver earned NCHC Defenseman of the Month for November, scoring his 11th goal of the season on November 29 against Minnesota. He leads NCAA blueliners in goals (11) and is tied for second in points (17).
Cole McKinney of Michigan scored his first collegiate power-play goal, his fifth of the season, in a 5-1 win at Harvard on November 28. He ranks tied for fifth in goals (5) and 10th in points (11) among NCAA U-19 skaters.
