São Paulo and Botafogo drew 1-1 on Saturday (23) at Morumbi in the 17th round of the Brazilian Championship. Luciano opened the scoring for the home side, and Barrera equalized for the visitors late in the match.
São Paulo started better and scored after three minutes when Luciano capitalized on a rebound from goalkeeper Neto following a shot by Artur. Dorival Júnior’s side controlled the first half but saw Luciano and Sabino leave the field injured.
In the second half, Botafogo leveled the game. Two goals by the visitors were disallowed for offside, involving Arthur Cabral and Barrera. At the 45-minute mark, Barrera scored the equalizer after goalkeeper Rafael came out.
With the result, São Paulo remains in eighth place with 25 points and extended its winless run to eight games. Botafogo sits ninth with 22 points. São Paulo’s last win came on April 25 against Mirassol.
