The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service declared a red alert for the commune of Pucón due to winds reaching between 90 and 100 km/h.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 1, SENAPRED raised the alert to red in Pucón, in the La Araucanía Region. The winds caused trees to fall, cuts on the international route CH-199 and on route 2° Faja between Villarrica and Pucón, as well as leaving 8,152 customers without electricity due to medium-voltage cable cuts.
The regional Disaster Risk Management Committee replaced the previous yellow alert with the red one, which will be in effect from today until conditions warrant otherwise. This measure allows the mobilization of all available resources.
As a preventive action, entries and exits of people and vehicles were interrupted in the urban area of Pucón. Other communes in the region remain on yellow alert, while the rest continue under preventive early alert.
