Backstage plans call for Seth Rollins to face Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam in August. Dave Meltzer reported the matchup on Wrestling Observer Radio after Rollins defeated Bron Breakker. The bout would mark their first singles match since 2022.
Roman Reigns did not appear at WWE Night of Champions despite holding the World Heavyweight Title. The show took place this past Saturday.
Meltzer stated that the Reigns versus Rollins match has been in development for some time. He noted that the original plan involved Reigns facing Gunther instead.
Oba Femi, the new King of the Ring winner, is now expected to pursue the Undisputed WWE Title held by Sami Zayn. Meltzer added that Brock Lesnar could challenge Zayn before SummerSlam to set up a third match with Femi.
Reigns has defended the World Heavyweight Title twice since winning it at WrestleMania 42, most recently against Jacob Fatu at Clash in Italy.
