The Slippery Rock University men's and women's track and field teams had impressive showings at the Ashland Invitational on Saturday. The men's team secured four NCAA provisional marks and 21 PSAC qualifying marks, while the women's team saw Jianna Long and Ruthie Hughes win their events. Ohio University's Aubree Beery also excelled with a top-five program mark in the weight throw.
At the Ashland Invitational in Ashland, Ohio, the Slippery Rock University men's indoor track and field team demonstrated strength by recording four NCAA provisional marks and 21 PSAC qualifying marks. Assistant coach Jordan Geist achieved the No. 1 mark in the shot put. Key performers included Colton Adolph, Jason Alderson, Logan Anderson, Lincoln Bouman, Connor Brown, Grady Cobb, Matthew Crow, Christian Crowley, Scott Finch, and Ethan Folmer.
On the women's side for Slippery Rock, Jianna Long and Ruthie Hughes led the team by winning their respective events. Other notable participants were Baylee Blauser, Alice Bogia, Jennifer Cichra, Carissa Flynn, Sydney Hale, Kayla Hanna, Paige Harding, Birtukan Hartman, Olivia Heckman.
Ohio University's women's team was paced by freshman Aubree Beery from Lancaster, Ohio, who set a top-five program mark in the weight throw. Additional contributors included Sophie Besett, Jasmine Correa, Sara Doughman, Arissa Leo, Alyssa Mason, Morgan Roth, Elinor Shuttleworth, Abby Wells, Jaclyn Garvey, Sophie Lane, Savana Miller, and Adelyn Tager.
