The Spanish national team defeated Saudi Arabia 4-0 on Sunday in Atlanta. Lamine Yamal scored the opening goal at 18 years and 342 days old.
The match took place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta before 68,239 spectators. Yamal opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a finish after a move started by Cubarsí and Oyarzabal. The goal matched Pelé's precocity as the second 18-year-old to score in a World Cup.
Oyarzabal added two goals in three minutes and Spain reached 3-0 before halftime. An own goal by Hassan Altambakti completed the 4-0 in the second half. The team held 72 percent possession in the first half.
Luis de la Fuente made substitutions to rest Pedri and Olmo. Yamal said after the match: "Ya estamos aquí, hemos llegado". The result leaves Spain virtually qualified for the round of 16.
