Square Enix reveals Final Fantasy XIV patch 7.4 content

Square Enix showcased details for Final Fantasy XIV's upcoming patch 7.4, titled Into the Mist, during its 90th Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast. The update introduces new quests, dungeons, trials, and raids, alongside system enhancements for glamour and PvP. Additional content is planned for sub-patches 7.41 and 7.45.

Patch Overview

Final Fantasy XIV's patch 7.4, Into the Mist, brings a fresh main scenario questline to advance the game's story. Players will explore a new dungeon called Mistwake and tackle the Hell on Rails trial in both normal and extreme modes, with savage difficulty arriving on January 6, 2026. The Arcadion raid series expands with the Heavyweight tier, also featuring normal and savage modes under the same release schedule for savage content.

Additional Features and Trials

An unreal trial, Tsukuyomi's Pain, challenges level 100 players. Duty support extends to the Dzemael Darkhold and Aurum Vale dungeons, making them more accessible for solo or small-group play. The Occult Crescent receives updates with three new phantom jobs—Mystic Knight, Dancer, and Gladiator—plus accessories offering set bonuses. Cosmic tools see further enhancements, though weapons and tools are restricted to their corresponding classes due to animation impacts.

System and PvP Updates

The glamour system evolves by removing level, class, and job restrictions on gear appearances, allowing greater customization freedom. PvP launches Series 10 with action tweaks and a new Frontline campaign, Worqor Chirteh (Triumph). Miscellaneous changes include Gold Saucer expansions, new UI color themes like Clear White and Clear Green, and additions such as the Strategy Board and Command Panel.

Future Content

Patch 7.41 introduces phantom weapon updates and a new planet, Oizys, for crafters and gatherers, complete with rewards and system tweaks. Patch 7.45 adds the Variant Dungeon Merchant’s Tale, offering varied playstyles and difficulties, along with the next chapter in the Hildibrand adventures. A new track, “Everything Burns” by Tom Morello featuring Beartooth, ties into the Arcadion raid series, with a single release on December 17, 2025.
