St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the claim of forward Jack Finley off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. The 23-year-old Finley, born in St. Louis in 2002, is the son of Jeff Finley, who played defense for the Blues from 1998 to 2004.
This season, Finley has appeared in 22 games for the Lightning, tallying three points with two goals and one assist, along with 21 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-6, 227-pound forward also recorded three points—one goal and two assists—in three games with the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch. Over his career, Finley has amassed 84 points, including 40 goals and 44 assists, plus 102 penalty minutes in 164 AHL regular-season games.
Selected by the Lightning in the second round, 57th overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft, Finley is in the first year of a three-year entry-level contract worth $2.33 million, with an average annual value of $775,000. This season operates as a two-way deal, while the final two years are one-way contracts. Finley does not need to report to the Blues until on-ice activities resume following the Olympic break on February 17.
The acquisition adds depth to the Blues' forward lines, connecting Finley to the franchise through his family ties and hometown roots.
