Starz acquires US rights to Tip Toe drama

Starz has acquired the US and Canadian rights to the five-part drama Tip Toe, created by Russell T Davies and starring Alan Cumming and David Morrissey. The series, which aired in the UK earlier this month, will debut on the network later this year.

The premium cable network announced the deal on Wednesday. Tip Toe follows two neighbors in Manchester who have lived next door for nearly 15 years before becoming enemies amid rising tensions and radicalized opinions.

"Russell T Davies has created a gripping and deeply affecting series that speaks directly to the cultural tensions and anxieties shaping modern life," said Starz President Alison Hoffman in a statement.

Davies, who wrote and executive produced the series, recently exited his role as showrunner on Doctor Who. The BBC has since scrapped plans for a previously announced Christmas episode, stating that the decision allows the show to focus on its long-term future.
