Pittsburgh Steelers safety Sebastian Castro has offered strong support for new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. Senior offensive assistant Frank Cignetti Jr. has also shared details of his approach to coaching.
Castro described Graham as a player’s coach during a recent appearance on El Podcast Inmaculado. “He’s a friend. He feels like one of the players. But when it comes to football, you can tell he switches and it’s very intense,” Castro said.
The Steelers overhauled much of their staff after hiring Mike McCarthy as head coach this offseason. Graham previously served as defensive coordinator for three other NFL teams.
Cignetti, a Pittsburgh native and son of longtime coach Frank Cignetti Sr., joined the staff as senior offensive assistant. “Coaching is teaching,” he told the team website. “I wake up every day and try to be positive, try to be energetic.”
Cignetti’s career includes stops with the Chiefs, Saints, 49ers, Rams, Giants and Packers, where he worked with Aaron Rodgers under McCarthy in 2018.
