Swedish names in newly released Epstein documents

The US Department of Justice has released over three million files from Jeffrey Epstein's investigation, featuring Swedish names in emails, documents, and video clips. Aftonbladet has mapped 20 Swedes, including researchers, diplomats, and models. A specific case involves a Swedish woman offered by Epstein to Indian businessman Anil Ambani.

The US Department of Justice released over three million files from the investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein last week; he was suspected of trafficking and other crimes but died by suicide in custody in 2019. Aftonbladet reviewed the material and identified 20 Swedish names, ranging from prominent researchers and diplomats to models and young students. Among the mentioned Swedes are Princess Sofia, financier Barbro Ehnbom, and top officials from the Foreign Ministry and the UN.

A particular case emerges in a 2017 SMS conversation between Epstein and Indian billionaire Anil Ambani, who inherited the family conglomerate after his father's death in 2002. Ambani, who filed for personal bankruptcy in the UK in 2021, first discussed Donald Trump with Epstein—Ambani had known the Trump family for over 30 years and studied at the same school, Wharton. They last met in May 2019, shortly before Epstein's arrest.

The conversation quickly shifted to women. Ambani asked: "Who do you suggest?" Epstein replied: "A tall blonde Swedish woman, to make visiting more fun." Ambani responded within 20 seconds: "Arrange it." Epstein's brother Mukesh Ambani, Asia's richest with a fortune over $98 billion according to Bloomberg, maintains strong ties to Trump and attended his presidential inauguration in January.

The documents, totaling over three million files so far with more to come, highlight Epstein's network, but none of the mentioned Swedes are accused of crimes in the material.

Sweden's Tidö parties have rejected the Center Party's proposal for an independent probe into Jeffrey Epstein's Swedish connections. The motion followed Norway's commission on the convicted sex offender in February. The government has not ruled out a future review if new information emerges.

Former model recruiter Daniel Siad, whose name appears in the declassified Epstein files, firmly denies accusations of rape and human trafficking in fresh interviews, while acknowledging professional contacts with Epstein between 2009 and 2019.
