The School Education Department of Tamil Nadu has received the SKOCH Award 2026 for three initiatives aimed at improving education in government schools.
The award recognises VETRI Palligal, TN SPARK, and Tamil Nadu Model Schools for their measurable outcomes at scale. VETRI Palligal supports 59,270 students across 339 hub schools in 236 blocks with talent discovery and coaching for entrance exams. TN SPARK has set up AI learning centres in over 5,000 schools, reaching 3.53 lakh students and training 6,000 teachers in its first year.
Tamil Nadu Model Schools provide residential support to 11,885 students across all 38 districts, with more than 1,300 gaining admission to premier institutions annually. B. Chandra Mohan, School Education Department Secretary, said the recognition reflects the state’s commitment to an equitable and future-ready public education system.
