The CW has ordered a 10-episode spin-off series titled Private Eyes West Coast, starring Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson. The crime procedural follows the duo reprising their roles as private investigators Matt Shade and Angie Everett on Canada's west coast. It will air later this year on The CW in the U.S. and Global in Canada.
The CW announced on Monday that it has greenlit Private Eyes West Coast, building on the success of the original Canadian series Private Eyes. Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson return as Matt Shade and Angie Everett, who have relocated from their previous private investigation firm to start anew on the west coast. Executive producers Shawn Piller and Lloyd Segan, known for Priestley's current series Wild Cards, are overseeing the project. Priestley recently starred in Wild Cards on The CW, prompting the network to expand his role with this spin-off. The original Private Eyes ran for five seasons from 2016 to 2021, airing in the U.S. on Ion. In the new series, the investigators' quiet life is disrupted during a night out when they encounter a woman holding a bloody steak knife over her dead boyfriend. Convinced of her innocence, Shade and Angie plunge back into high-stakes sleuthing. Season 1 features cases such as searching for a missing student in British Columbia's wilderness and securing a confession from a surfer in Tofino, while they establish a new P.I. firm and community.
