At least 7,000 protesters assembled near the People Power Monument along EDSA in Quezon City on Tuesday morning, June 30, 2026, braving rain and prompting road closures and heavy traffic.
Groups of rallyists gathered at the corner of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue and White Plains Avenue starting around 3 a.m. The Quezon City Police District estimated the crowd size at approximately 7,000 by 6:45 a.m., according to spokesperson Maj. Jennifer Gannaban. Many participants wore shirts referencing prior Iglesia ni Cristo rallies held in 2025.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority closed several roads, including the EDSA Ortigas Service Road northbound, both directions of the EDSA Ortigas Flyover, and all lanes of White Plains Avenue. Traffic moved moderately to slowly on remaining EDSA stretches. The agency also towed illegally parked vehicles to ease congestion.
MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III said personnel and equipment were deployed to reopen lanes. “Our priority right now is to reopen the road because many people are on their way to work, and they’re also being caught in the rain,” he stated in a radio interview. A separate gathering of around 200 people occurred at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila, where a stage was being set up.
