Volkswagen has announced that owners of its ID.4 and ID. Buzz electric vehicles will gain access to Tesla's Supercharger network in North America starting November 18, 2025. This follows a delay of several months from the initial timeline. Eligible drivers will need a NACS adapter to use over 25,000 compatible DC fast chargers.

The announcement comes after delays that pushed back the original June or July 2025 rollout, arriving two months after access for Volkswagen Group brands Porsche and Audi. Owners of the ID.4 and ID. Buzz can locate compatible Supercharger stations and pay for sessions via the Tesla app, though integration into Volkswagen's own software is not yet available.

To connect to Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) stations, drivers must use a Volkswagen-approved NACS-to-CCS adapter, priced at $200 and available from dealers or online at parts.vw.com. Original owners of 2025 model year ID.4 and ID. Buzz vehicles qualify for a $100 rebate, provided claims are submitted within 90 days of purchase and no later than July 15, 2026. Starting with model year 2026, the adapter will be included as standard equipment on all new Volkswagen EVs.

The adapter supports only DC fast charging and is not compatible with Level 1 or Level 2 AC chargers, including Tesla's Destination network. Certain 2024 and 2025 ID.4 and ID. Buzz models will receive a recommended software update to ensure optimal charging performance via NACS.

Petar Danilovic, Senior Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategy at Volkswagen of America, commented: “This is great news for our EV owners. They will now be able to access the more than 25,000 DC fast chargers on the Tesla Supercharger network across the United States, in addition to the more than 5,000 fast chargers on Electrify America’s grid. This makes life much more convenient, whether you are taking a road trip or you rely on public charging should home charging not be an option.”

This expansion adds to Tesla's growing list of NACS partners, which now includes around 20 automakers, enhancing charging options for Volkswagen's over 114,000 ID.4 and nearly 5,000 ID. Buzz units sold in the US to date.
