Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin and center Joel Eriksson Ek revealed they competed through serious foot injuries during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Both players missed the second-round series against Colorado after breaking bones in their right feet against Dallas. The disclosures came during the team's season-ending media session on Friday.
Brodin sustained a broken big toe after blocking a shot in game five of the first-round series against the Dallas Stars. The injury required surgery and kept him out of game seven and the entire matchup with the Colorado Avalanche. Eriksson Ek broke his heel bone in game six against Dallas and was limited in practice before game three versus Colorado but could not skate effectively due to pain.
