Woodkid re-records sea shanty for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake

A new version of the sea shanty 'Leave Her Johnny' has been recorded by Woodkid for the upcoming remake of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.

The track, originally performed by Michel Schrey, Nils Brown and Sean Dagher, has been streamed more than 900 million times on Spotify. Woodkid’s “resynced” take was featured in a trailer unveiled on June 5 during the Summer Game Fest opening ceremony. The remake, titled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, is scheduled to launch on July 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It is described as a faithful remake rebuilt from the ground up with new additions while preserving the original story. Woodkid said the world of Assassin’s Creed has been important to his career and called the game a major episode for fans. A press release noted that the track offers a mysterious, dark and epic version that reinvents the piece without betraying it. Matt Ryan, who voices Edward Kenway, said the remake is enriched with lots of new additions to bring players one of the most swashbuckling pirate adventures.
