An 18-year-old man from Rättvik has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for attempted murder and other crimes after placing a bomb at Stiernhööksgymnasiet on 21 January.
Mora District Court found the 18-year-old guilty of attempted murder against a school employee and attempted gross public destruction. The bomb was wrapped in red Christmas paper and filled with screws and metal balls to detonate when the lid was lifted.
Prosecutor Jimmy Skogström had demanded 18 years in prison but expressed satisfaction with the verdict. He noted however that he had sought attempted murder in four cases.
Defence lawyer Alexander Berglund said both he and his client are very disappointed and will appeal. The man must also pay damages to the victims.
