The Nahdlatul Ulama central board has selected Pondok Pesantren Tambak Beras in Jombang, East Java, to host the 35th NU congress from 27 to 31 August 2026.
The decision was reached during a joint meeting at the PBNU office in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, 7 July 2026. Organizing committee chair Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, said the venue and dates resulted from deliberation after several limited meetings.
Gus Ipul invited all NU regional and branch officials to ensure the congress succeeds with togetherness and joy. He hoped the event would produce the best decisions for the organization going forward.
The original schedule of 1-5 August was shifted to 27-31 August due to technical considerations. Gus Ipul noted Jombang's experience hosting the congress in 2015, which provides a foundation for preparing accommodation, facilities, and transport.
The committee will soon coordinate with the East Java PWNU, Jombang PCNU, and nearby pesantren around Tambak Beras to ensure smooth operations.
